The School of St Jude in Tanzania
In the African nation of Tanzania we've taken on the sponsorship of eight students who attend The School of St Jude.
The School was established in 2002 by expat Aussie girl Gemma Sisia who married a local and felt the need to do something for the children in her adopted home.
Gemma's school provides both a home and education to children from orphaned and vulnerable backgrounds with the aim of working towards a self-sustainable future for Tanzania. In a few short years, St Judes has grown to include two campuses and has gone from strength to strength with regard to providing opportunity for local children.
Sponsorship from us and others like us takes care of the students' boarding facilities and educational costs and ensures that within the school surrounds students have access to clean water, three meals a day and an opportunity to live in safe secure premises.
Additionally we've assisted St Judes in their recent building program through the Great Walls of Arusha Appeal. Following the school's own example, we sold virtual bricks to assist in raising the required funds to extend their infrastructure.
