OH&S Responsibilities

It is the policy of Careerlink Recruitment and Training Services to ensure, in so far as is reasonably practicable, that all employees are safe from injury and risks to health whilst at work.

Careerlink meets this commitment by ensuring that work practices and procedures adopted throughout the company comply with the Acts and Regulations governing Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare.

All persons are expected to take all practical measures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for themselves and others.


Client Responsibilities

Workplace safety means we all have a responsibility to raise awareness, reduce risk, identify hazards and eliminate problems.

The Management and/or Client has a responsibility to

  • Provide and maintain in so far as is reasonably practicable
    • A safe working environment
    • Safe systems of work
    • Plant, equipment and substances in safe condition.
  • Provide information, instruction, training and supervision to ensure that each employee is safe from injury and risk to health
  • Adopt measures to minimise the risk of, and harmful effects of fire and explosion
  • Provide appropriate personal protective equipment and to ensure it is properly used
  • Keep information and records relating to work related injuries suffered by employees
  • Provide medical, health and first aid services as required by the regulations made under the Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Act
  • Investigate all work related accidents, to minimise a reoccurrence of accidents
  • Monitor working conditions at any workplace that is under the Management and control of the company.

Those in a supervisory role are responsible for the following duties

  • Ensuring that all employees under their control work in a safe manner
  • Reporting any accident / injury within their area
  • Taking appropriate measures to ensure the provision, maintenance of, and proper use of approved personal protective equipment, including training and supervision of employees under their control
  • Reporting any health or safety hazards to Management, as soon as they become aware of them
  • Ensuring that they are not, by the consumption of alcohol or a drug, in such a state to endanger their own safety at work or the safety of staff under their control.

Candidate / Temporary Employee Responsibilities

When your safety and that of your colleagues depends on the identification and elimination of risks, don't think twice about mentioning a potential hazard in your workplace.

In their own interests, and as a legal obligation, Candidates and Employees have a responsibility to ensure that nothing is done to reduce the effectiveness of health and safety provisions. In particular they must

  • Take reasonable care to protect their own health and safety at work
  • Ensure they don’t endanger any other person through any act or omission at work
  • Ensure that correct use is made of all equipment provided for health and safety purposes
  • Obey all instructions issued to protect their own personal health and safety, and the health and safety of others
  • Ensure they are not, by the consumption of alcohol or a drug, in such a state to endanger their own safety at work or the safety of any other person at work
  • Report or make such recommendations to their supervisors as they deem necessary, to avoid, eliminate or minimise any hazards regarding working conditions or methods
  • Keep their work area tidy
  • Be aware of the clients evacuation and emergency procedure process
