Telephone Courtesy and Etiquette

If your staff are guilty of using telephone shorthand this workshop is the perfect opportunity for change. Phrases like ‘hang on a sec' and ‘no worries' are unacceptable when it comes to projecting a professional business image. Let us refresh your staff's vocabulary and guide them in expert telephone communication techniques.

When customer relationships often begin with a telephone call, your staff can make or break your business image with the language they use. Sadly, old fashioned courtesy and phone etiquette have fallen victim to our fast paced world. While everyone is sending and speaking SMS, our modern vernacular isn't appropriate when you're trying to maintain a professional business image.

Not only will this workshop empower your staff by helping them understand the importance of expert communication it will give your business an edge over your competitors. As the first point of contact, your staff's efforts can make or break a client's impression and a professional telephone manner will go a long way to creating that positive experience.

The Art of Coaching

Coaching is the buzzword of the moment in staff development. When you consider a coach is someone who encourages and motivates your staff, it makes perfect sense that one or more of your key staff members are trained to lead the rest of your team. There's a flow on effect - a well trained Coach will in turn, mould your staff into a winning team creating great results on the job.

A team with no leader is neither cohesive nor effective and with a divided staff running your business, the possibility of success is remote. Empower your staff by providing them with great coaches to effectively build and strengthen their confidence, skills and knowledge. Remember it is possible for your staff to do great things when a leader, trained in cutting edge methodologies, guides them.

Through this highly interactive program Careerlink will assist your coaching staff to embrace these methodologies and you will be amazed as your organisation goes from strength to strength.

Angela's Running With The Yaks

As a mother, training facilitator and business owner, assisting in developing better educational opportunities for children around the world has been a passion of mine for many years. Recently I was so inspired by the Room to Read ethos that I have join with other South Australian community members to establish a new Adelaide Chapter for the organisation.

When I was invited to join the Yak Pak in this year's City to Surf in Sydney I thought ;

‘Why not, I've finished our own City to Bay fun run in Adelaide, how hard can it be?'

Later I found out there is no comparison between the ‘fun runs' and that there's something called ‘heartbreak hill' in the Sydney event. Well, I'm always up for a challenge so now I'm getting ready with the help of my personal trainer and am really excited about representing the Adelaide Chapter in our very first fundraiser.

There was mention that we would be running in Yak suits but I have to admit I'm drawing the line there!

My goal is to raise $1000 for Room to Read and complete my first City to Surf in style. I invite you to support me by donating towards this great organisation. If you'd like to pledge a donation please head to the website and add your support to the list.

For more information about Room to Read, please log onto their website as well and have a read about the great work being done around the world.

With Thanks,
Angela

She's Done It!

Angela has officially completed the 2011 City to Surf in her allotted time of 2 hours. In her own words;

"Made it, city2surf in 2 hours, nearly killed me but I did it ... woo hoo"

Having raised $2560 as part of the Yak Pak's overall total of $24,618, Angela was in fact the second highest fund raiser in the entire group. By the way, the Yak Pak didn't do a bad job overall and were the 10th highest fundraising team overall.

Our Christmas CSR Initiative

For those who aren't familiar with the story behind The School of St Judes, here's a brief recap.

In 2002 a young Aussie girl, Gemma Rice went to Africa and opened a small school in Tanzania. Today that small school has expanded to include two different campuses and hundreds of students. Hers and the school's belief is that they are "educating the future leaders of Tanzania". Gemma Rice is now Gemma Sisia. She is married with a family and calls Tanzania home.

The School of St Judes relies entirely on sponsorship to stay afloat and to that end the Careerlink team is dedicated to our ongoing sponsorship of one of the school's boarding rooms. Each year we continue our support of St Jude's Boarding Room Chui A and each year the students graduate and the students within that boarding room change. This means we are able to touch the lives and impact the future education of another 8 Tanzanian students each and every year.

St Judes will provide us with the names of our new students in the coming weeks so we will keep everyone posted when we find out ourselves. We like to think of these children as new members of the Careerlink family so knowing their names and seeing their photographs is of paramount importance to us. We often receive a thankyou note from the students themselves so we look forward to that as well.

If you would like to get involved in The School of St Judes fundraising efforts, there are plenty of ways to do so. A new initiative for the school this year is their eCards program. What this means for you is that you can send an eCard, donate to a worthy cause, raise awareness and remember your loved ones all in one hit. We urge you to visit the school's website http://www.schoolofstjude.org, have a good look around and find out just how you can make a difference.
